The Song Lab focuses on the study of an insect order Orthoptera (grasshoppers, crickets, and katydids) and other insects and aims at understanding behavioral, ecological, physiological, morphological and molecular evolution in a phylogenetic framework. |

Ph.D. StudentEmail: pselliopus@yahoo.com.mx I started this fall a PhD in Conservation Biology under the tuition of Dr. Song. I have a Bachelor in Biology degree (2006) working on the genus Pselliopus (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) from Mexico and a Master of Sciences degree (2009) studying the relationship of ciliates (Protozoa) attached to aquatic true bugs, both from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Since 2005 I have participated in several entomological expeditions in Mexico, collecting mainly hemipterans and orthopterans. Here I will work with the family Pyrgomorphidae (Orthoptera: Caelifera) covering different issues like molecular systematics, biogeography and evolutionary aspects of its biology. |
